Holyrood Abbey, founded 1128. All that remains is the ruined and roofless nave.
Another view of Holyrood Palace.
Deacon Brodie's Tavern, where I had some good single-malt
Celtic crosses were a frequent sight.
Taking a break halfway up King Arthur's Seat, an extinct volcano overlooking Edinburgh.
Just some building--I liked the white of it against the blue of the sky.
An apartment building I liked the look of. Edinburgh has some of the first "skyscrapers"--the old city
was only one mile long by a quarter mile wide, so they had to maximize space by building upwards.
Again at King Arthur's Seat
It's nice to walk around a city to the sound of bagpipes, but locals found it interfered with their workday, so street pipers are only out on weekends now.
This isn't in Edinburgh--it's in Stirling, but I had nowhere else to put it. It's the Wallace Monument, for William Wallace, who people know thanks to Mel Gibson and Braveheart. There is a very funny story about a statue at this monument which I will put in my travelogue.
